Call 1 (888) 382-1222 from the phone number you wish to register (for TTY, call 1 (866) 290-4236). You can also register online at the Do Not Call registry site (www.donotcall.gov).

How Did They Get My Phone Number?

MTA does not release or sell customer telephone numbers, but the information listed in the MTA Directory is part of the public record. Telemarketers use phone books, even old ones, to get phone numbers. Here are some other, less common, ways telemarketers get phone numbers:

  • Charities you’ve supported may share your number
  • Where you’ve applied for credit may resell your information
  • A random dialing machine may stumble upon your number
  • Information you provide when entering a contest can be sold
