Keeping You Informed
Status messages let you know when you reach 75% and 95% of your local data plan allowance for the current period.
NOTE: As of May 5, 2014 usage notifications are no longer forwarded to an alternate phone number or email address. Usage notifications are only sent to the phone that is using the data. Feel free to track your usage any time by clicking Check Usage on mtasolutions.com.
Getting A Top-Up
When you reach 100% of your local data plan allowance for the current period, a top-up message will ask if you want to purchase an additional 1GB of data for $19.99. Top-up purchases are just for the current period; they do not affect your Mobile Web Plan subscription. Top-up purchases will appear on your next statement.
There is no limit to the number of top-up purchases you can make. However you may decide to contact customer service and upgrade your Mobile Web Plan instead.
If you top-up and then upgrade, the top-up data will be consumed first, before plan upgrade data.
What if I say No to a top-up?
When you reach 100% of your local data plan allowance and decide not to top-up with additional data, your phone’s web access will be temporarily unavailable. For the remainder of the billing period, you will not have access to email, picture messaging, iMessage, web browsing, Facebook and any apps that require Internet access.
These data services will be automatically restored at the start of the next billing period. Please contact us if you change your mind, need your data back sooner, or want to inquire about a Mobile Web Plan upgrade.
Does Mobile Data Guard include a parental block feature?
At this time there is no option to block additional purchases.
I don’t have a Mobile Web Plan. I just pay as I surf.
You don’t need a Mobile Web Plan to get some data.
Watch for the one-day message asking if you want to purchase 250MB of data for 24 hours for $2.99.
What is this data roaming message?
If data roaming is not available or your data roaming limit has been reached, you will see a message like this. Please call us if you need data roaming service now.
How will this affect Mobile Hotspot service?
Mobile Data Guard replaces Mobile Hotspot service. Instead of having a separate Mobile Hotspot Plan, subscribers now have access to tethering capability as a standard part of their Mobile Web Plan.
Will I still be able to check usage on MTA’s website?
The usage info site is still available. Feel free to track your usage any time by clicking Check Usage on mtasolutions.com.
