The MTA Foundation is excited to launch its 2017 scholarship program. The scholarships are designed to encourage individuals to pursue a variety of educational goals for not only first-time college students, but also returning students, students participating in a vocational program or homeschool program, or students pursuing professional development that leads to a degree or certification.
Thirteen scholarships will be awarded in the following categories:
Academic Degree Scholarship (7 students at $5,000 each)
Applicant must be a current senior from a high school, correspondence study, homeschool program, or distance education program in MTA's serving area and not yet attending college. Applicant must be pursuing a four-year Bachelor Degree at an accredited school and have a minimum cumulative high school GPA of 3.0.
Continuing Education Scholarship (4 students at $2,500 each)
Current year graduating high school students are not eligible. Applicant must be enrolled or accepted as a part-time (at least 6 credit hours per semester or 4 hours per quarter) or full-time student in an accredited school in a program leading towards a Bachelor or Master's Degree; must have completed 12 or more credits with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
Career & Technical Education Scholarship (2 students at $2,500 each)
Ideal for students considering a career in a health, industrial, or technical field such as dental hygiene, nursing, diesel/heavy equipment operation or auto mechanics. Applicant must be enrolled or accepted as a part-time (at least 6 credit hours per semester or 4 hours per quarter) or full-time student at an accredited school in a program leading towards a recognized license, certificate, or an Associate Degree; must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 at the most recent educational institution attended (high school or post-secondary).

Terms and Conditions
All applications will be reviewed and winners selected by a qualified selection committee.
Scholarships will be awarded on a one-time basis and will not be renewable.
Awards will be paid upon proof of registration at an accredited educational facility, and will be issued by August 2017.
Scholarships will be awarded without regard to race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender or disability.
Winners will forfeit their scholarship if mandatory paperwork is not received by MTA by July 10. This is detailed in the award letter.
This application and all supporting documents become the property of MTA once received.
Scholarships awarded to high school students may be announced at high school senior award nights. All recipients will be notified by May 15, 2017 by phone call or email and announced at MTA's Annual Membership Meeting on June 7, 2017.
