Upgrade Your HTC Hero's Android Operating System

NOTE: This upgrade will erase any applications and data you have on your phone, for example apps, contacts, profiles and other settings.

The software upgrade posted below provides several key enhancements for your HTC Hero:

• Upgraded OS to Android 2.1 Éclair
• Includes enhancements to Sense UI
• Includes enhanced corporate email support
• Includes a variety of minor bug fixes
• MMS capabilities (for supported networks)

If you have a gmail account, make sure your contacts, gmail and calendar are synced. To verify from your phone, go to menu > settings > accounts & Sync > manage accounts. Choose your gmail account. Select the options that you want to sync (i.e. contacts, gmail, calendar). Each item will display the date and time it was last updated.

Or

Once you have installed HTC Sync, you can use it to back up your contacts/calendar.
